BB74 Fanfest

Blog Banter #74 Fanfest

Welcome to the continuing monthly EVE Blog Banters and our 74th edition! For more details about what the blog banters are, please visit the Blog Banter page.

So when this Blog Banter goes live, Fanfest will be over. Hungover geeks from around the world will be departing Reykjavik after a five-day binge of important internet spaceships and partying. Whether you were there in person, watched the streams or read the dev blogs on your mobile hidden under your work desk there was probably something in there that gave you a “nerd-boner”. What for you personally was the most important thing to come out of Fanfest 2016?

Hmm how to start this off... let's go for the swag stuffs:

SWAG

Citadels
Love it or hate it, this patch release will shake up the entire Eve universe; not only in Null Sec where we are going to witness those Citadel Doomsday whelp fleets but in High Sec where market traders decide whether to 'pvp' in a citadel or in an NPC station. As a PI manufacturer, Citadel release probably made me about 2b richer thanks to price spikes :D

NPE
While nothing concrete was given during the presentation, CCP Ghost seems like crazy scientist determined to find that magic treat to suck new Eve players into the game. I believe he's the right direction and hope he finds the answer ! (Biased since it will make it easier for newbie-friendly groups like us to get them up to speed :D)

Faction Capitals
Being in Syndicate means Moros are usually mainstay in capital fights and with Vehement's (Serp Moros) stats I can see demand for it; already some of my alliance mates are itching to splurge on it :D

Now for the pukes from all that drinking from Fanfest:

Pukes

Citadels
The rush nature of implementation (potential bugs) of it and coupled with 'in the middle' roadmap keeps nagging me inside. Yes bugs are going to be fixed and the rest of citadel module/structure/mechanics will be released eventually but it leaves me that 'CCP Over-promise' feeling.

CSM
I will post a separate analysis post regarding this but I'm definitely sad about the Null Sec heavy composition.

Syndicate Corner Week 17 YC118

Syndicate Corner Week 17

Syndicate

When I last posted, Syndicate didn't see much action despite INIT. having moved in for a while. Well since then LAWN, Razor and SMA (Outer Ring) have joined in and as a result the structure bashing in Syndicate gained a lot of steam. While INIT. did bash some of our structures but by luck or by chance they didn't finish the job after reinforcement so hopefully it stays that way.

For those people still hunting them, I did some research via killboard so these are the likely places (constellations) that they will occupy.

INIT.
Their current staging system is at X-M2LR and when they are not acting as the new PF-346 gatekeepers, they are structure grinding towards the north-east of Syndicate.

Structure bash party varies from bomber fleet, ishtar fleet, small dread fleet or carrier blob.

LAWN
They are currently structure bashing around SKX-PL which is likely to be their area of operations given close proximity with Outer Ring (SMA).

Structure bash party so far consists of bomber fleets.

Razor
I haven't seen them yet so I have no idea where are they going to settle down. My best guess is that either 6-V49K or QS-FVH given the close proxmity to Outer Ring.

World War Bee

Spectre Fleet War schedule keeps clashing with my schedule. URGH T_T

Fanfest

I looking forward to what CCP is going reveal at this fanfest especially regarding Citadels and CSM Poll Outcome.

Market Thoughts

Strontium price in Jita stabilized and if you still have a stash, better cash it out since the demand comes mainly from Sov lasering in the North and Drone Lands. Once the dust settle I believe the price will crash down.

P4 PI prices have largely settled down but some P2 and P1 are still overpriced. I expect most P2 prices to fall below 20,000 isk and P1 to fall below 1,000 isk. That being said, latecomers for citadel manufacturers might spike the market on citadel patch day.

Plans

For now I plan to finish my mining section before heading to my favorite isk income Planetary Interaction \o/

Last but not least, I will end my post with a MBC propaganda picture :)

Syndicate Corner Week 14 YC118

Syndicate Corner Week 14

RL kept me busy hence I skipped posting for three weeks.

Syndicate

Damn quiet ever since Money Badger Coilation or MBC got stationed in Venal and for all that Goon spin about Initiative burning Money POSes down in Sydnicate, I guess most of them have pulled back to defend their own region (Tenal) with some trying to alpha pop us in our station undock.

But as i started to write this post, someone in fleet probed down a WH with a POS coming out of RF timer. With no defenders, we popped the pos, lo and behold 2b SMA containing a Chimera. Apart from that loot we also scoped Iteron V filled with fullerites, deadspace-fitted Rattlesnake, several yachts and ventures

Citadel Feedback Threads

[Citadel]Carriers
[Citadel]Supercarriers
[Citadel]Tweak to Black Ops jump fatigue bonus
[Citadel] Citadels on Singularity

For now I think citadels are riddled with bugs at the moment with my toon stuck in the large citadel when trying to undock.

Market Thoughts
As shown by my main toon bio, I sell ice products as well as P2 PI. Due to citadel speculation, PI prices have risen considerably.
For example, Polyaramids used to sell @ 12k per unit which roughly equates to 900m per month income based on my extraction setup. But with it @ 19k per unit, your income comes up to 1.2b per month.

Fool's PI Google Doc Spreadsheet -Detailed PI cost breakdown and comparison
PI Calculator - Accounts for PI skills, Planet radius, PI planet setup and price updates from Eve Central
These two tools can help you determine which PI is making a profit, whether your doing factory PI or extraction setup. My 2 isk for short term speculation are on Protein (P1), Biomass (P2) which are overpriced imo.

Strontium have been added into the Fuel Block BPO which cause the current rise from 1.5k to 5k per unit. My thoughts are they will remain in high demand until POS features are removed from the game. Hence my 2 isk in the short-medium term is to cash out on strontium when it's hot.

Keepstar XL Citadel

TDLR: 200T Faction XL Citadel where only one can be anchored at one time

This is probably the last straw that broke Gevlon Goblin's back and is leaving Eve given his views on Citadels as pay2win.

World War Bee

If you have been living under the rock, the title link is basic guide regarding the ongoing World War Bee.
As much as I hate to drop corp, so Spectre Fleet, HERE I COME \o/

Syndicate Corner Week 11

Syndicate
Alot of pew pew going on with Initiative being deployed in Syndicate and while OSS seems to have left the region (probably for Querious) after Goons pew pew their moon poses down in BMNV-P and X-M2LR.
That being said, I ended at the wrong end of PvP, losing my mackinaw in ice belt as I warp off  my orca pilot instead of Eliz. While I was a tad butt-hurt but a mistake happened and sometimes it's that mistake that catches you.

Citadel Markets and Taxes Update
Apart from the issues raised from the earlier post, CCP released updates and additional information regarding reprocessing rigs and their base refines. While I like the jump clone fee reduction, the stick used to push people to Citadel still rubs me the wrong way. The following posts are opinions from other bloggers from this potential change.

The citadels of eternal peace by Greedy Goblin
In search of a carrot by Luobote Kong

Marketforisk's PLEX perspective on CCP Quant Feb 2016 Data
While the devblog is out in the wild for some time, marketforisk used the data to explain the upward trend of PLEX as well as CCP's search for that 'money' isk sink.

Eveeye Maps
A new Eve tool popped out this week and I must say whoever was on this project did an excellent job on it.

Syndicate Corner Week 10

Syndicate Corner

This post is more of weekly post of what's happening in Syndicate and Eve news that related to my play-style.

SMA vs IWANTISK
While most of the activities are happening in Fade and Querious, fighting spilled over to Syndicate with prominent Goon alliance The Initiative being deployed to attack OSS and Suddenly assets specifically in X-M2LR.

With lighting rod fighting so close to our base of operations, third partying into the fights might be an option especially CAS Combat Day happening today \o/

CAS Combat Day (CCD)
What is Cas Combat Day? It is summarized in this post but basically it's a newbie NPSI roam across nullsec and lowsec. So if you want some action with us, please drop in some spais in fleet and wipe us out !! This CCD is especially unique as it is the 8th Year Anniversary for this event and I hope to get on to fleet; albeit later due to TZ mismatch :(

CCP Quant Feb Economicy Report
I had a quick look through the graphs and had a good chuckle when I compared Fade to Syndicate region. Given the difference in true-sec plus being a SOV region, I guess Fade have been hit hard given the quietness of Syndicate for the past month.

Skill Point Gift for Server Woes
By the time of posting, the you should be able to get 200k SP given by CCP.

Dread Rebalance
Although I don't have a dread pilot it interesting to note the potential change given their niche of 'in your face' DPS machine

Citadels: Market & Taxes Feedback
That reddit thread is a mess to filter through so I suggest you take a look at this blog post by Jan Irvam as a summary.

CSM 11 Candidate Summary Part 2

At last the official candidates are up and a total of 53 candidates have been approved by CCP. Unfortunately my group candidate told me he's not running got me so T_T. Anyway I going to post my CSM Endorsement soon and continue my Mining series.

Should you want a second opinion of the candidates, the peeps of CSM Watch have group analysis of candidates. The last 3 analysis show have been uploaded and the links are as follow:

CSM Watch Analysis 4
CSM Watch Analysis 5
CSM Watch Analysis 6

If you missed my last review, here is the link.

So I going to slot candidates into 3 groups:
Recommended Candidates
Recommended to read up on them and consider them for your ballot. Likely your top half picks of your ballot
Safe Candidates
Depending on your playstyle, they might appeal to you but are not your top half picks for your ballot
Don’t Bother
Look at them if you have nothing else to do. No point in further investigation.

Recommended Candidates

Mr Hyde
Focus: Solo, Small Gang PvP, PL
Positives: Solo Pvp specialization, Realist, Battleship Meta Focus
Negatives: Split PL Vote
Verdict: Well respected even outside PL and well versed in PvP meta. Most likely to get CSM vote.

My Opinion: While 'frigate menace' gave me a chuckle, he shows that he understand issues stemmed from small ship-centric metas which many small groups like us faced every day (eg. cancer kite gamurs) Furthermore bringing back the battleship meta will allow Eve to have more chance of bigger scale fights; whilst not B-5RB esque but will keep players engaged.

Safe Candidates

Toxic Yaken
Focus: Highsec, Wardec
Positives: Reasonable, Wardec
Negatives: No visible support base , ex-ganker
Verdict: His lack of visible support might be his undoing for getting elected to CSM

My Opinion: For a ex-ganker, I find him as a reasonable candidate despite my hatred against gankers. That being said there are better candidates than him with regards of wardec.

Jin’taan
Focus: Nullsec, Provi FC
Positives: FC experience, Capital Rebalance
Negatives: Narrow specialization compared to other prominent candidates
Verdict: Being the official Provi candidate along with Utari Onzo, he's probably going to get into CSM.

My Opinion: While I don't mind having Jin'taan on my ballot but his specialization is common among other candidates.

Joffy Aulx-Gao
Focus: Lowsec, Disability
Positives: Accessibility perspective from older/disabled players, Well-spoken
Negatives: Support might be lacking, CSM interview seems scripted due to accommodations
Verdict: Might get in depending on vote turnout.

My Opinion: Good candidate considering the median age of players are increasing.

Nashh Kadavr
Focus: Lowsec PvP, Community Events
Positives: E-sports focus, CCP- interactions
Negatives: Event Drama, Narrow focus on Events only
Verdict: Decent candidate but support might be lacking.

My Opinion: Good candidate but that IWANTISK drama and lack of support might be his undoing.

Utari Onzo
Focus: Provi FC, Lore, Logistics
Positives: Logistics, Capital Rebalance Lore-driven content
Negatives: Lore support lacking, Inexperience
Verdict: Might get into CSM depending on Provi vote turnout and lore support.

My Opinion: Best lore-related candidate with other specialization like logistics and capital rebalance

Sogor
Focus: Nullsec, Industrialist, Test Alliance pilot
Positives: PI interface focus, Neutral perspective
Negatives: Narrow specialization,
Verdict: If he get Test's support, he might make it.

My Opinion: Decent candidate with a balanced perspective how Eve works without marginalizing playstyles (eg. PvP and Miner symbiotic relationship)

Chiimera
Focus: Nullsec, Community Events, AUTZ
Positives: Event Focus, Well-liked
Negatives: Limited specialization, Grr Goon
Verdict: Depending on Goon vote turnout, he might make it but unlikely

My Opinion: Decent but too many AUTZ/Community Event candidates which might cannibalize their voting support

RF Gnaeus Crassus
Focus: Highsec, Logistics, Wardec
Positives: Logistics specialization, courier contracts revamp
Negatives: Entrenched view on ganking
Verdict: Unless he is able to gather support from logistics corps, he is not going get into CSM.

My Opinion: While having a doomsday equipped on a freighter to shoot back ganker might seems butt-hurt but it underscore the advantages of gankers have as well as the problems of wardec mechanics. With a potential relook in jump fatigue as well as wardec mechanics, he seems a safe candidate.

Capri Sun Kraftfoods
Focus: Nullsec, Small Gang, PvP, Logistics (Hauling)
Positives: Engagement Focus, Well liked
Negatives: Lacking support, better candidates, ex Is-boxer user
Verdict: Decent interview but might lack support

My Opinion: Think Vic Jefferson but with other specializations or focus and minus Grr Goon mentality. Safe candidate

Xavier Azabu
Focus: Small Corp/Alliance, Japan TZ
Positives: Unique perspective, Level headed
Negatives: No obvious support, not space famous
Verdict: Getting in hinged on his possible Asian/AU TZ connections

My Opinion: Depending on his TZ connections he may or may not get in.

Annexe
Focus: Graphics, Music, Nullsec PvP, AUTZ
Positives: Goon Support, Small ideas/ Neutral proponent
Negatives: Split Goon Vote, Scam Drama
Verdict: Unlikely but it really depends Goon vote turnout

My Opinion: Decent candidate despite the scam drama but unlikely to get in.

Niko Lorenzio
Focus: Highsec, Communications, NPE
Positives: Neutral perspective, Knowledgeable, realistic, Grr Nullsec bloc
Negatives: Lack of support, not space famous
Verdict: At most an outsider chance

My Opinion: Decent candidate but will not gather enough support to get in.

Tora Bushido
Focus: Highsec, Wardec
Positives: Wardec, Ganking focus
Negatives: Grr Marmite
Verdict: Having gone close at previous CSM election, he is probably the prominent wardec candidate should the mechanics being tweaked and likely to get in.

My Opinion: As much as I branded Marmite as the Goons of trade hubs ( CODE has the dubious honor of Goons of Highsec), Tora is a decent candidate and his wardec input is crucial with the upcoming citadel patch.

The Judge
Focus: Nullsec, PvP, Wardec
Positives: Goon Support
Negatives: Split Goon Vote, Narrow specialization
Verdict: Dependent on Goon vote turnout; Outsider chance

My Opinion: While there are information from eve-guardian, eve forum, I don't know him well enough to put him over Sullen Decimus.

Lorelei Ierendi
Focus: Highsec, Wardec, NPE
Positives: Wardec, Ganking focus
Negatives: Lack support, biased opinion regarding ganking
Verdict: Similar to last time, he has outsider chance of getting in.

My Opinion: Probably the 'victim' proponent of the wardec/ganking mechanics which I probably sympathize and might get in as a replacement for departing Mike Azariah.

Don’t Bother

Borat Guereen
Focus: Small Gang PvP
Positives: David vs Goliath, Limit Crest API exposure to 3rd party websites/apps
Negatives: Complicated CSM revamp, propose ideas contradict his campaign platform
Verdict: Not going to make it

My Opinion: While I applaud his 'David vs Goliath' determination but his complicated CSM revamp and coupled with his suggestions made me confused.

Viceran Phaedra
Focus: PVE, Small Corp/Alliances
Positives: Decent interview
Negatives: Xenuria reference, no obvious support
Verdict: Not going to make it.

My Opinion: Better luck next time as a 'jack of all trade' candidate with limited specialization is hard to get into CSM without any obvious support.

Erika Mizune
Focus: Disability, Industrialist, Logistics (Hauling), Community
Positives: PI interface focus, Accessibility perspective from older/disabled players
Negatives: Poor Interview, better industrial/disability candidates
Verdict: Poor interview might pushed the disability vote to Joffy and she might not get into CSM

My Opinion: As much as I want her in CSM, her ability to put her ideas in front of devs or aggressive CSM members doesn't give me much confidence.

Aryth
Focus: Nullsec, Economics
Positives: Goon Leadership, Economic specialization
Negatives: Aggressive, Possible Drama Source
Verdict: He will get in regardless so save your vote for others

My Opinion: Probably a Sion clone with economic specialization or a mynna.

CSM 11 Candidates Summary Part 1

CSM season has began and with my NPSI group producing a candidate this season, I might as well cover the CSM coupled with my CSM predictions and personal opinions on each candidate. Consider this a quick review of all candidates without listening to all interviews.

Should you want a second opinion of the candidates, the peeps of CSM Watch have group analysis of candidates. So as of writing there have been 3 analysis shows and here are the shortcuts:

CSM Watch Analysis 1
CSM Watch Analysis 2
CSM Watch Analysis 3

So I going to slot candidates into 3 groups:
Recommended Candidates
Recommended to read up on them and consider them for your ballot. Likely your top half picks of your ballot
Safe Candidates
Depending on your playstyle, they might appeal to you but are not your top half picks for your ballot
Don’t Bother
Look at them if you have nothing else to do. No point in further investigation.

Recommended Candidates

Steve Ronuken
Focus: 3rd Party Dev, Industrialist
Positives: Well-liked, thoughtful, excellent CSM record, 3rd Party specialization
Negatives: Fear of burnout like Sugar, Ali Aras
Verdict: There is a reason why Steve is wanted by all others as a running mate for CSM so definitely a shoo-in for CSM.

My Opinion: Steve will be my top 3 pick regardless of future csm interviews.

DooToFoo
Focus: WH, Market, Small Corp/Alliances
Positives: Good Speaker,Planner. AUTZ, offers independent views on changes
Negatives: No bloc support, communication channel seems restricted
Verdict: While with no bloc support, Foo is rather well known in blogosphere and he should gather enough support to get in (with a slight Grr Goon appeal)

My Opinion: Fool will be picked higher than Steve as he appeals to my area of interest (small corp/alliances) and needs my support.

Apothne
Focus: Nullsec, Tournaments, Communications
Positives: Good CCP relationships, PL/Eve Uni Support, Good communicator
Negatives: Split PL Vote
Verdict: Split PL Vote might hurt him a bit but with Eve Uni support he will get in.

My Opinion: Apothne is probably the best among the new CSM candidates that are able to integrate quickly and get down to work.

Safe Candidates

Kyle Aparthos
Focus: Nullsec, CSM Communication
Positives: Great Speaker, Willingly to engage players from all playstyles
Negatives: SMA vs IWANTISK drama, TMC author
Verdict: With bloc support and an excellent interview, Kyle is probably going to get in regardless of the SMA drama which he came out unscathed.

My Opinion: While I listed IWANTISK and TMC as negatives, these factors seems negligible and the only reason Kyle is in Safe Candidate is because Grr Goon :D Nevertheless he seems to be good CSM member if elected.

Commander Aze
Focus: NPE, Incursion Runner, Wardec
Positives: Normal Interview, Willing to work with anyone with good ideas, Wardec focus group
Negatives: poor support, 3rd Time Running
Verdict: Either he makes it at the last few CSM spots or no champagne at all.

My Opinion: While it will be good to have a incursion runner perspective given the recent review of isk faucets in Eve coupled with Wardec seemingly getting a revamp (™), he doesn’t seems strikes me as a capable CSM.

Gorski Car
Focus: Lowsec, FW, Solo PvP
Positives: Professional, incumbent CSM, Grr Goon Support
Negatives: Aggressive persona, Reddit Drama, Recent CSM Leaks
Verdict : If you are a Grr Goon fan, you probably vote for him anyway but with recent leaks, he either get on at last few spots or nothing at all. (or a third consecutive substitute CSM)

My Opinion: When CSMX had so much drama and the last thing CSM11 needs is more drama so a definite no for me even if I’m a Grr Goon.

Nikolai Agnon
Focus: Lowsec, FW, Lore
Positives: Lore candidate
Negatives: Nothing else to offer, unconvinced by his platform, ability to stand his ground questioned when faced with devs/CSM
Verdict : Not going to make it given since there are better lore candidates with wider specialization.

My Opinion: He’s probably my lore pick of my ballot unless better lore candidates shows up

Uriel Paradisi Anteovnuecci
Focus: Lore, PVE, Data Mining in test servers
Positives: Lore candidate
Negatives: Too specialized, nothing else to offer, possible NDA leaker
Verdict: Not going to make it.

My Opinion: Too specialized even as a lore candidate and possible NDA leaker is no-no for me.

Diana Olympus
Focus: Nullsec, Trading
Positives: Economics specialization, French, Focus Group experience
Negatives: Alliance Support, Eve Prosper, Too specialized
Verdict: Having left PFR and joining a merc corporation, the source of support seems uncertain. Hit or Miss.

My Opinion: Depending on future candidate interviews, Diana might gather enough vote to take the last spot.

Nameloading
Focus: Nullsec, Industrialist
Positives: Risk vs Reward proponent, Enthusiastic
Negatives: Consensus candidate, Nullsec pusher, No official Bloc support
Verdict: Unless he get the official bloc support, he is not going to get elected

My Opinion: Not getting my vote since he only see nullsec as endgame goal and pushes everyone to nullsec.

 Bobmon
Focus: Nullsec, Live Events, Communications
Positives: Event Organiser, PL Support
Negatives: Evenews24, Better PL Candidates, IWANTISK connection
Verdict: Either he is going to make it with the last few spot or miss out due to the loss of votes from IWANTISK connection and with split PL bloc support.

My Opinion: With his insistence of IWANTISK for backing for Evenews24 ticks my conflict of interest checklist and he’s definitely not on my ballot.

 Sullen Decimas
Focus: Nullsec, WH, DUST, Communications
Positives: RL Profession related to NDA, C5 WH perceptive
Negatives: Conservative view on changes, Might not talk much due to NDA, no official Goon support
Verdict: Unless he receive official Goon support, his CSM chances are moot.

My Opinion: Sullen is probably on my ballot albeit the bottom half given his genuine WH interest which is noted in the interview rather than Noobman that uses WH as gateway to get fights

Don’t Bother

Vic Jefferson
Focus: NPC Nullsec, PvP
Positives: Grr Goon Support, small gang PvP
Negatives: Extreme Grr Goon, Only Interested in own playstyle
Verdict: An openly hostile approach to all Goon-affiliated candidates, coupled with highsec hatred and self-interest to enrich own playstyle scream problems and dramas should he get elected.

My Opinion: My NPSI group have past history with Vic Jefferson, who fights with cyno blob fest against t1 kitchen sink fleets. While the arguments presented by him will enrich our playstyle (ie. nerfing exploration to buff Vindicator BPC prices which drops in Serpentis space), but the impression of space bully (pushing more newbies to nullsec and blow them up) never fades from me.

Xenuria
Focus: Nullsec, Communications
Positives: Official Goon Support, Out of Box Thinking
Negatives: Grr Goon, Drama Figure
Verdict: If Goons vote for him, he probably going into CSM regardless of Grr Goon sentiments. Better focus on other candidates instead

My Opinion: Past TMC articles and coupled with a CSM Watch invite decline speak a lot of his troll candidacy.

Aiwha
Focus: Nullsec Wardec, WH
Positives: Various playstyle experience
Negatives: Better PL candidates, too conservative to new changes
Verdict: Not going to make it with better candidates like Apothne in PL candidate pool

My Opinion: Risk averse and I feel he is somewhat safeguarding his own interests.

Noobman
Focus: Nullsec, WH, Capital Rebalance
Positives: PL Support, Nullsec, C5 WH Perceptive
Negatives: Better PL candidates, poor WH knowledge for a ‘WH’ candidate
Verdict: Unlikely to make it with better candidates like Apothne in PL candidate pool

My Opinion: WH candidate that sounds more as a nullsec candidate and he doesn’t offer much else. Seems to be focused on his own interests and didn’t pick a fellow running mate when asked. Definite No.

Wyld
Focus: Nullsec
Positives:  Player Power
Negatives: No official Goon support,  Xenuria as running mate, Coined him as Insanely God-damn Drunk
Verdict: With no official Goon support, he is not going to get elected

My Opinion: Troll candidate.

CCD Afterthoughts

So what a CCD u might ask?

CCD or CAS Combat Day is a quarterly PvP roam organized by CAS Combat Guild (CCG) members who are based in Syndicate. This roam is dedicated to getting newbies from CAS or CAS-related chat channels a taste of pew pew although it also functions as a vet gathering from past members who tends to resub once CCD comes around.

CCD teaches newbies about the basics about pvp, gate tacticals, recon and comprised of mainly t1 fitted ships

So CCD fleet roams around nullsec and lowsec to look for fights and usually the event has its spectacular moments like this and this .

Attending such events always reignite my flame about Eve as we remember past CCDs like being pipe bombed and enjoy being in a large fleet which rarely happens since we are a small gang pvp group.

Lastly, if your looking to try out PvP, join us 'Cas Combat Guild' in game channel for more information.

PS: Spais are always welcome in CCDs :)

Newbie: Ore Venture

The above video is a quick mining guide from CCP which explains the how to mine ore as well as the different types of mining (ie. ice and gas).

If you already did the newbie missions you should have receive 1 Venture, an ore mining frigate which is shown in the video. On this post I will show various Venture fits to get you started off. However as you skill up, mining can be boring as it is the slowest way of generating ISK income.

While you mine I suggest using these 2 programs which will further enhance your Eve experience; EFT and EveMon. EFT is a fitting tool for ships while EveMon is a skill planner to keep track what you skills you need in order to achieve a particular ship fit.

Quick Notes

  • Newbies should start within 0.8-1.0 sec systems as your drones will kill rats quickly.
  • 0.7-0.5 sec systems will require you to speed tank (ie. orbiting a roid)
  • To determine which type of ore is worth more check out Cerlestes.de.
  • Adventurous newbies might want to dive down to a quiet lowsec system to mine the ores which are more lucrative than highsec ones.
  • In lowsec stay aligned to stations or bookmarks to get out safety if pirates or rats appear on grid.

In Eve I am a resident of highsec/nullsec who's mainly an industrialist, EFT warrior but fail pvp pilot :D

Why blog?

I'm someone who enjoys playing industrial side with Eve with occasional pew pew. I created this blog to help newbies to get up to speed with Eve and share my thoughts with my Eve interactions.

Then who's CAS? CAS or Center of Advanced Studies, is a Gallente starter NPC Corp where they have special interest groups, be it mining, highsec missioning or pvp. Through those special interest groups, this allows newbies to do stuffs that they might not experience.
